Sunday Catch up // Guest blogging

Hi ladies! I have been a busy bee this last week. Monday I started school and my 5th semester, I had some bike trouble which took a lot of my time and patience and this Friday and Saturday I helped my mother with the preparations for her 50th birthday which we celebrated Saturday night, so I have had a lot going on. Therefore there haven’t been a lot of activity on here – sorry about that! Will try and do some scheduled posts as I LOVE writing them ๐Ÿ™‚
As a little consolation and some mlhauken reading I wanted to let you know that I have done three guest blog posts lately! The first one was a What’s On My Face which I did over on Beausmaquillagex. Go and take a peek and see which products I have been using on a everyday basis lately ๐Ÿ™‚ Do leave me a comment on the post if you liked it. My second guest post I did was for Lipgloss&Lashes, which is one of my all time fave blogs. I have been reading Becky’s blog since the beginning. We started around the same time and she has already been norminated for the Cosmopolitan Awards – how amazing is that!? But let’s stick to the point of this post ๐Ÿ™‚ I did a The Body Shop Collection Part 1 on her blogPart 2 will be up later this week, I promise ๐Ÿ™‚ It was one of the popular posts on her blog, so do take a peek and let me know what you think. The last but also the first guest post I did was on Dippy Writes. Here I did a Nail Obesession posts on the Maxfacfor Glossfinity varnishes. I have done one on my blog before on the L’Oréal Color Riche here

If you clicked over and read the posts, liked them and was wondering if I would do a post for you or vice versa then please do contact me – either via twitter or just here on this post ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you liked this little Sunday post catch up – now I going to watch Something Borrowed under the covers ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks so much for reading guys! Hope you have had a lovely day ๐Ÿ™‚ xx

Lots of love

How to // Clean Brushes

Hi lovelies! How I have missed you. I feel like it has been ages since I blogged – even though it was last week! If you haven’t seen that post, then you should definitely take a peek here, cause it’s a huge haul and I think you would like it.

I started school yesterday, it has been about 3 months since I had classes so I have to get use to listening, writing notes, do homework and just learn again. I will need to get more organised so that I can put up some posts while I’m also attenting school ๐Ÿ™‚ Right now I’m laying in bed under the covers feeling really tired but I just felt like blogging, so here is a new post for you all. This one is a little “how to..” or “How mlhauken does..”.

I am a really bad brush cleaner, I often “forget” as I’m usually using the same products with the same brush, but it is really important to clean your brushes as some of the product will get build up and mixed with bacterias and nasties – and we do not want that on our faces as it can cause breakouts and impurities. So clean your brushes ladies. I would say that I clean my brushes once or twice a month, as I’m usually the only one using them. I really want to get better at spot cleaning too, so that I have a clean blending brush if needed.

Do let me know in comments how you spot clean your brushes and what you use to clean them with ๐Ÿ™‚

So now for how I clean my brushes. I usually have a bunch to clean at the same time. So I line them up, get a towel, some shampoo and stand by the sink to have easy access to some water. This time I’m at my dad’s so I used his shampoo, as this is a gentle one and mine is for treating frizzy and overworked hair, which I thought would be too much for cleaning brushes. I start of getting them wet and then I squeeze out some shampoo in my hand, about as much as I have in my hand on the picture. I then take the wet brush and start to rub it in the shampoo in my hand,  put a little water on it and rub again. When you feel like all of the product is gone you simply just rinse it until all of the shampoo is out.

One thing you want to be careful with is that you never want to get water up passed the metal part on the brush, because it can soak into the brush, loosen the glue and then it will fall apart. Also, to make sure my brushes, especially the rounded ones, don’t loose its shape I make sure to have the actual head of the brush hanging of the table on a towel – in this case a pretty turquoise one ๐Ÿ˜‰ I left mine to dry overnight, so I don’t know exactly how fast they dry.

I think that was it! How do you clean your brushes and do you use shampoo or actual brush cleaning soaps? Let me know in the comments, as I’m quite curious on how others clean their brushes ๐Ÿ™‚

Have a great day or night – where ever you are in the world!

Thanks so much for reading

Lot of love

Haul // ELF Cosmetics

Hi lovely ladies and occasional guys! Today I have an exciting post for you. Lately ELF Cosmetics have had loads of different discounts, secret present and then they started having a sale-sale! This sale was what caught my attention. They had a 60 % of everything including already discounted products. This made my woot woot and I got all excited. The llittle shopping meltdown turned into this haul. Some of the products I’m SO excited to show you!

As you can see there are A LOT of products and I am really excited to try all of them out! I have done some swatches and tried some of the products and they are all promising. I thought I would just show you all the products without much explanation and text as this post will otherwise get really loooong. Don’t get me wrong I like to write and read long posts but this would kind of be too long in my opinion. So hope you are OK with that decision. I’m definitely going to do some reviews and if you have any specific products you would like to see a review of first, just let me know by tweeting or write a comment below.

To end this post I wanted to show you my Top 3 Products that I am most excited for. The first one is the Cream Eyeliner in Purple! Yes I bought a purple eyeliner. I LOVE my Maybelline gel eyeliner which I use almost every day but lately I have really wanted to jazz it up a bit and I thought a purple eyeliner would do that. It would really complement my eyes too as I have brown eyes. The next two products are some I saw Tanya Burr use in her old $20 Makeup Challenge video. The first one is this lovely little Eyeshadow Quad in Day 2 Night. She chose this one because the top right colour reminded her of MAC Satin Taupe and the look she created with this quad was just gorgeous – hopefully I can create something like it ๐Ÿ˜‰ The last product is a little gem and may I just say OH LORD this is beautiful. This is a Blush in Pink Passion and it looks kind of scary, but it is a beautiful barbie pink colour that just makes you look fresh and summer-y. I can’t wait to use this one as I’m really blown away by the colour.

Hope you liked my haul and do remember to let me know which product you want me to review first ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks so much for reading and have a beautiful day <3

Packing Series // The Brushes and The Makeup

Hola beauties! Yep, I said hola, because I just felt like it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you all are well and enjoying the sunny summer? Or not so sunny here anymore.. We have had rain, lightning and whole lot of scary noises so didn’t get a lot of sleep! I’ve been to the doctor today and got a vaccine so I have been really tired and down but I’m much better now and I wanted to put up my very last post in my Packing Series – Yes, I said that there would be 6 posts but I have decided to put Brushes and Makeup in one post. So I hope that you are okay with that and look forward to seeing what I brought ๐Ÿ˜‰
Lets get going with today’s post! Oh and I will be doing a ‘What’s in my bag‘ post soon, as I just got a new bag today. It made my, otherwise down, day!
For brushes Vivianna suggests a Buffing Brush which I brought plus 6 other ones ๐Ÿ˜‰ This is why I decided to put these two categories in one post, as I over packed and I’m only going to talk about the brushes and products I DID use. I chose to pack my brushes in this Real Techniques brush bag-thing-y. You get this when I buy Real Techniques brush sets – in this case the Core Collection which, if you don’t already own it, you NEED to get it. These brushes are my most used.

The most used brush I packed was the Real Techniques Contour Brush which I use for both highlighter and blush – one on each ‘side’ – both my highlighter and blush are cream based. The second most used was the MAC 217 Brush which I think every beauty blogger and their dog have. It’s just such an easy brush for blending but also for just a wash of colour all over the lid. Lastly the third most used was the ‘Cheap China’ Powder Brush. I bought a whole batch of these brushes in China, they are not the best brushes, but they do work fine. This one I call the Powder brush and I used this to apply my bronzer – works perfectly. The other ones I didn’t use except for the Cheap China Angle Brush, but only used it once, the day we departuredas I couldn’t use it more than that – Here’s a little recommendation, do not bring gel eyeliner with you on camping. You can’t wash the brush properly and it will harden.

This was what I had for the brushes – it would have been a short post, wouldn’t it? ๐Ÿ™‚ So I will continue with the make up bits and this will explain why I didn’t use my beloved Buffing Brush.
Makeup wise Vivanna suggest packing Cheek & Lip Tint, Mascara, Lip Balm and  Eyelash Curlers. I should have listen to her and followed the list. I only wore ‘a lot’ of makeup one day, when we went bowling. I over packed like I was going to a party every day – dang it ๐Ÿ˜‰ But now I have learned from my minor mistake and you can learn from it too.

The bits I did end up using was my beloved Lip Balm (Green) – this one is a Danish brand but as long as it’s Mentholatum based I will love it. Love the tingling and cold feeling, then you now it works. I used my Maybelline The Rocket Mascara for my lashes to give them a long and full affect. These two products was all I used most days, really. I might pop some of my very well loved Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Dixie, applied it with the contour brush on my cheeks but that’s it.

The day we went bowling I wanted to dress up a bit and apply a little more makeup. For my skin I used my lovely Garnier BB Cream which I apply with ma’ fingers as I find it works better that way. This is why I did use my Buffing Brush, as I only use it for foundation – Nope.. I have know idea why I even packed it in the first place. To bronze up my face I used The Body Shop Bronzing Powder in Medium Matte. Love this, hitting pan on this soon.

As I only really have one cream blusher and one highlighter I would love some recommendations from you guys – if you have any ๐Ÿ™‚

Lastly for eyes I applied my rediscovered eyeshadow from Rimmel London in Smokey Quatz which I just love for a wash of colour all over the lid. I also applied some liquid eyeliner to define the eyes a bit, the one I brought is a L’Oréal Super Liner Garbon Gloss.
This is the end of my Packing Series! Hope you liked reading them as much as I loved writing them.

Do let me know if you end up using this series for when you have you go on holiday ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh and do tell me in the comments which posts in SERIES was the best

Thanks so much for reading and have a lovely, night or day <3

Packing Series // The Miscellaneous Bits

Hi babes! How are you? So the Packing Series is almost done. After this post I’ll only have 2 more posts left for you. Hope you’ve enjoyed them so far? I’ve enjoyed writing them! After 3 weeks of being together with the family and friends, I finally arrived to my own little space, which you just need sometimes ๐Ÿ™‚
Well lets get going with today’s post, which is the miscellaneous bits I packed:
Vivianna call these bits for the boring bits, which actually fits the products. Not that they are boring, but it’s just some products that you have to have in your packing bags. She suggests packing deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, muslin cloths/flannels, cotton pads & buds, nail scissors, tweezers and compact mirror.

Firstly I wanted to say I did pack a toothbrush just thought it would be a little boring to put it in a picture the same goes for the cotton pads. I of course ended up forgetting some toothpaste but luckily my sister brought some! Also, I didn’t bring a compact mirror as I wanted to use the mirror in some of my makeup bits. But as the packer my sister is, she packed a big mirror we shared ๐Ÿ™‚ Ah, got to love her <3
A deodorant is a complete must, you don’t want to end up smelling like a whole festival or something. This deodorant is one of the only ones I feel works at least for me. It is the Dove Go Fresh 48h Cucumber and Green Tea Scent. It smells fresh, but the scent is not too heavy, I feel that I’m the only one who can smell it, which is fine. And it’s a roll-on which I find works the best for me.

Something that isn’t on Vivanna’s list but I thought is a total must – as I’m totally addicted to this stuff. I love scrubbing my lips, so they look beautiful for when I want to wear some colours! This is the only lip scrub I’ve tried so can’t compared it anyone else but this is AH-mazing! It is the Lush Mint Julips which tastes just like mint-chocolate ice cream, which is my fave. I LOVE anything with mint.

I also brought some Nail Hardener, which I normally use as a base coat. It makes the nails shine a bit and look healthy. Love this one from Sally Hansen. I ended up using it ones but when you’re on camping you don’t really think about our nail all that much, so could just have applied it at home instead of bringing it.
Nail clippers, tweezers and nail file is some tools that I should honestly be carrying in my everyday bag and not just for camping – She rolls away from the table and goes and put the tools in the bag. None of these are from a special brand of some sort, just some nice cheap ones that works.

This was the miscellaneous bits that I packed! Hope you liked it, and if you haven’t seen the other part of this series I’ll have some links here – The Hair, The Body and The Skin Care! The only two categories left are The Brushes and, of course, THE MAKE UP

Is there anything else you would have packed? Tell me in the comments <3

Thanks so much for reading and have a lovely night/day ๐Ÿ™‚
